Photos from Mimi & Papaw's Last Visit

Mimi, Papaw, Jeannine, Chris, Michelle, Annelise and Emma visited our home last spring. During this visit Mimi told us all that she had pancreatic cancer. Somehow we managed to have a lovely time in spite of that, even though everyone was so saddened by the news. After that Mimi underwent various treatments. God answered prayers and kept the cancer at bay. Mimi has spent that year and a half living well and loving well: She continues to minister with my dad at their church which he pastors. I will write more of that later.

But Friday (January 23), they called us with the news that the cancer has returned, and this time, it is inoperable. Our loving heavenly Father has given Mimi and Papaw peace. This week daughter Wendy and little Oliver will fly there to visit for eight days. I will be watching the other three kids during the day and spending the night at their house. More news to follow about Mimi.

My dad emailed me this: "I'm trying to learn what it means to cast all your care [your anxious care] on Him for He careth for you - 1 Peter 5:7. It matters to Him because He loves us...The verse reminds me of T.S. Eliot, "Teach us to care and not to care; Teach us to sit still; Even among these rocks, Our peace in His will," from Ash Wednesday. Love, Dad

Please pray for my dad that he will care for my mom without anxiety, and be at peace.

I love your pictures, Cheryl! I saw all of these when you first posted them and re-visited them today and am sending them to Walgreens for prints. Thanks! Love, Dad
